FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Johannesburg, South Africa, 26 March 2025 – Solarise Africa, a pan-African Energy-as-a-Service company, has been recognised by TIME magazine and Statista as one of the World’s Top GreenTech Companies of 2025, with an impressive score of 85.3. This prestigious accolade places Solarise Africa among the top 250 companies globally making significant contributions to environmental sustainability – and proudly, as one of only two African companies included in the ranking.
The list, compiled through rigorous data analysis by TIME in collaboration with leading data firm Statista, evaluated over 8,000 companies worldwide across three key pillars: positive environmental impact, financial strength, and innovation drive. The recognition underscores Solarise Africa’s mission to accelerate the clean energy transition across Africa through distributed solar solutions tailored to businesses.
“We are incredibly honoured to be recognised on TIME’s global list of leading GreenTech innovators,” said Jan Albert Valk, CEO and Co-Founder of Solarise Africa. “This recognition affirms our unwavering commitment to driving Africa’s energy transformation through sustainable, scalable solutions. It is a tribute to our exceptional team, our visionary partners, and the businesses across the continent who are boldly embracing clean energy.”
Solarise Africa’s Energy-as-a-Service model has enabled companies in sectors ranging from manufacturing to education to drastically reduce their carbon footprint while gaining[JV1] energy independence. Operating across several African markets, Solarise Africa provides innovative financing and technical solutions that remove barriers to solar adoption for businesses.
“Being one of only two African companies on this global list shows the enormous potential of our continent in the green transition,” Valk continued. “We are proud to demonstrate that impactful climate solutions can – and must – flourish in emerging markets. This recognition fuels our drive to expand our footprint and accelerate the transition to a greener, more inclusive future.”
The comprehensive methodology behind the ranking involved collaboration with global research leaders including HolonIQ, which assessed environmental impact based on sector-specific KPIs such as renewable energy generation and emissions reductions; LexisNexis® for innovation benchmarking through IP analysis; and extensive financial performance reviews through publicly available and proprietary data.
This global recognition marks a pivotal moment for Solarise Africa as it continues to scale its impact and attract international interest in African-led green innovation.
