EaaS company joins “Women For Green Jobs” program with support from the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet

Nairobi, 22 June 2022 – Solarise Africa, a pan-African Energy-as-a-Service company, today announced that they are joining the “Women For Green Jobs” program to increase gender equality across their operations.

“At Solarise Africa, we value gender diversity and are committed to providing an inclusive environment for women in the workplace,” said Jan-Albert Valk, CEO and Co-Founder at Solarise Africa. “We are proud to join this program and to support female candidates seeking long-term employment in the renewable energy space. 80% of our recent hires are female and we aim to continue this trend.”

The “Women For Green Jobs” program, managed by Shortlist and supported by  the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, aims to place over 750 women into green jobs across six countries in Sub-Saharan Africa over the next two years.

“We have always been a meritocracy where we only judge people based on performance. For ambitious and driven people, the sky is the limit at Solarise, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, or sexual orientation,” Valk concluded.

“We’re thrilled to be leading the “Women for Green Jobs program in partnership with clean energy companies like Solarise Africa and others”, said Grace Perkins, Shortlist Program Director, Clean Energy. “We designed this program to increase gender equity in the clean energy sector and increase youth employment across Africa, especially for women.

“Women For Green Jobs” will be active through 2022 and 2023 in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria. Positions are available in not only the roles women are already actively working in, but also those that are traditionally male dominated. It covers multiple functions, including customer service, sales, business analysis, HR, engineering, data, and more.
